Frequently asked questions
Q. What is Carecamera?A. A Carecamera enables you to see and hear (once audio service is added) with any person ( such as someone at risk or an elderly relative) from your own computer in a secure manner 24 hours a day seven days a week. With no action or expertise from the person who is being cared for.
Q. What is needed at each end?
A. To view you need your computer and your broadband connection. To be viewed you need a couple of mains power sockets and a telephone land line. We supply and fit everything else.
Q. Will this affect the telephone land line?
A. No, all equipment supplied will not affect your existing telephone service. You can still use your telephone and any emergency pendant you might have.
Q. Who owns the cameras and other supplied equipment?
A. Carecamera will continue to own all supplied equipment and will replace any faulty equipment should it fail.
Q. What will it cost for the service?
A. The basic package is just £1 a day with a minimum of a 1 year contract. Payment is in advance and is plus V.A.T. If applicable. After the first year the contract will be on a monthly basis and will be via a direct debit.
Q. Can I reduce this cost?
A. All our prices are exclusive of V.A.T. You are exempt from VAT if you declare that you are chronically sick or disabled (for example, if you suffer from an ongoing illness such as heart problems or arthritis). You do not need to be registered disabled to claim exemption from VAT.
Why not share?
If a second person would like to monitor the same camera(s) we can add them to the account as long as a second agreement has been signed, the service charge for this is £25.00 + VAT if applicable.
Q. What is available?
A. Base package: The ability to securely login and view the video camera images 365 days a year and 24 hours a day. The facility to view the images from anywhere in the world using your own computer and a broadband internet connection.
Q. Can I add to the base package?
A. Yes you can. Carecamera can add the following services in some cases over night. 1. Add sound to your Carecamera images. Hear what's going on when the visitor's arrive. This cost's an extra 50 pence per week. . 2. Add Carecamera log. Not sure what this is? This service allows you to have a log of events that happen in view of the camera when you are not watching it is triggered by motion. A person passing in front of a camera will have a few images recorded and the date time and location of the camera logged onto the image. This service also includes the ability to save the Carecamera log images to your local computer. Cost £1.00 per week.
Q. Can I add further cameras?
A. Yes you can. Although this does depend on the speed of broadband available.
Q. Is the service secure?
A. YES: You have a unique user name and password for your account. Should you forget your password you will have to contact Carecamera so we may verify your details. Remember we can only change your password we cannot see your password. Your password must be a minimum of 6 characters and at least one number. Your password is case sensitive (it will recognise capital letters if you use them).
Q. Can I let another member of my family view the images
A. YES: If you require a second user name and password for another person to use Carecamera. You must print a second contract, which is then signed before Carecamera issue the extra login. There is a charge for this, however both customers could then share the cost of the service. Both customers can view the service at the same time.
Q. Who can see the images?
A. Only the person with the authorised usernames and passwords, Carecamera will not monitor your cameras unless setting up the service or fault finding at your request. Only a senior member of the Carecamera support staff will perform those actions and their actions will produce an audit trail.
Q. How do I save Carecamera log images to my computer?
A. Right click the image in your CareCamera log dahsboard and choose the 'Save picture as...' option, this will open a Save as dialogue box which should offer you the My Pictures folder, the file will automatically be named using <camera name>_/yyyy/mm/dd/HH:MM:SS click on the save button then go to your My Pictures folder to review your picture.
Q. How do I know when my contract is about to expire?
A. A warning message will appear when you are logging in to the Carecamera service.
Q. Do I have to log off when I am finished?
A. No but it is good secure practise to do so.

Q. How long does it take to add extra services?
A. To install extra camera's will require a visit by our installer , we aim to do this in five working day's but Carecamera can add services to an existing camera in one or two working day and in some cases over night.
Q. How Long Does It Take To Install And Activate My Carecamera Service?
A. An A.D.S.L. Line set up takes 10 working days once that is in place we can fit the camera/s.
