Care Camera

Our Video

The majority of people wish to remain in their own homes whatever it takes. Often whatever it takes, can, initially be unpalatable. Most of us are proud, private and fiercely independent. We are very concerned about being a nuisance or burden to family, friends or neighbours. Home is the last place of retreat it envelopes you, is familiar, comfortable and contains memories, which prevent you from feeling alone. The Care Camera is, maybe what would have been, in a bygone era, the 'person' who was keeping an eye on whomsoever was vulnerable. It is a friendly, benevolent, caring eye; not watchful or intrusive. It won't invade private spaces. It is there for peace of mind for the 'carer' and the person perceived to be vulnerable. What we as carer's want for our loved ones is not, always, what they want for themselves.

Often it is our anxiety which is the driving force. People want their views listened to and respected - even if it's not what we want to hear and they are contrary to our own. People don't want to feel patronised or coerced. Sometimes an emphatic 'no' can change to a 'maybe', even a 'yes'. People need time to digest things and to come to terms with the fact that they can't cope as well as before and that this is a form of enablement, empowerment and allows them to retain dignity, and independence. At the same time realising they are making things easier for the carer (often their children who are the most important aspect of their lives).
